Chris Allegretta03260b42001-10-04 01:24:07 +0000110/03/2001 - GNU nano 1.1.2 is out there. Many new features in this
2 release, including support for auto-converting from
3 DOS and Mac formatted files, as well as toggles for
4 writing out files in these formats. Pico's -o flag has
5 been implemented, as has some new smooth scrolling code
6 (which can be used in place of the default jerky scrolling
7 behavior). Also, there is now a "find matching
8 bracket/brace/etc" feature (Meta-]). The .nanorc file
9 now accepts setting the tabsize, and the help text at the
10 bottom of the editor is now better spaced out in the
11 search/replace prompts. There are also the usual helping
12 of bugfixes, translation updates and, surely a bug or two.
13 You better get ready!
14
Chris Allegretta0e8c8d82001-07-29 01:16:27 +00001507/28/2001 - GNU nano 1.1.1 is released. Our second 1.1 unstable release
16 features many bugfixes from the initial release, in
17 particular fixs for the multibuffer code, and various
18 compiler macro fixes. The shortcut lists for
19 the search and replace prompts are a little more logical
20 (with cancel the last option again), and the included
21 gettext was re-downgraded to 0.10.35 due to problems
22 on the PPC platform. GNU nano now includes its own
23 aclocal macros in the m4/ directory to allow rebuilding
24 the configure script to work on platforms regardless of
25 their gettext version.
26
Chris Allegretta9a748602001-07-15 16:07:23 +00002707/15/2001 - GNU nano 1.1.0 is released. This is the first release
28 in the 1.1.x unstable series of GNU nano. It
29 incorporates all changes up to the 1.0.3 release,
30 and also includes many many new features, including
31 appending to as well as overwriting files, writing
32 marked text to a separate file, dynamic wrap length,
33 lots more compatibility with Pico, and new optional
34 features like .nanorc file support and multiple file
35 buffers! All in all, plenty of new stuff that's sure
36 to introduce lots of bugs ;-) Have fun with it, but
37 be careful, unstable means unstable.
38
Chris Allegretta38068cd2001-04-06 20:04:23 +00003904/06/2001 - GNU nano 1.0.1 is out there. The only new feature is a
40 configure option for those who want to disable all
41 word wrapping from nano, --disable-wrapping. Bug fixes
42 this release include some bugs with autoconf and i18n,
43 and several fixes in the file browser including a
44 segfault on Solaris, symlinks to directories now work
45 properly, and nano now sorts files case insensitively
46 like pilot. Have fun with it.
47
Chris Allegretta2bfbda02001-03-23 03:50:44 +00004803/22/2001 - GNU Nano 1.0 is released! The autoindent wrapping bug
Chris Allegretta4aa302f2001-03-18 18:50:04 +000049 has been fixed, as well as strange bug when using Pico
50 mode and regex search. There have also been some minor
51 spelling and documentation updates. As stated on the
52 website, there are currently no known bugs with nano, but
53 some will pop up eventually and they will be addressed in
54 subsequent releases. We hope you enjoy this first stable
55 release of nano, and as always, feedback is welcome!
56 nano@nano-editor.org.
57
Chris Allegrettaf4a98642001-02-19 05:28:00 +00005802/19/2001 - Nano 0.9.99pre3 brings a lot of changes! The most important
59 being that nano is now officially a GNU program. Some
60 changes have been made for GNU compatibility (like the
61 default list of shortcuts, "^G Get Help" is now Listed and
62 "^_ Goto Line" is not). The Yes/No/All keys have
63 finally been internationalized also. All in all, quite
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +000064 a few changes, considering nano is supposed to be in a code
65 freeze. But there are the usual helping of bugfixes, a
Chris Allegrettaf4a98642001-02-19 05:28:00 +000066 nasty bug when cutting text in -k mode and some
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +000067 compatibility issues with older ncurses libraries have also
68 been fixed. All in all, a lot to see.
Chris Allegrettaf4a98642001-02-19 05:28:00 +000069
Chris Allegretta90e04042001-01-31 18:01:24 +00007001/31/2001 - Nano 0.9.99pre2 is released. Not surprisingly, all that is
71 new is bugfixes, bugfixes, bugfixes. There were a few
72 cleanups in unneeded global variables and duplicate
73 functions, but most is just fixing. Specifically, there
74 is now a preliminary (read: needs testing) fix for
75 resizing the editor in any mode other than normal edit
76 mode. Other fixes include some more tab completion
77 segfaults, and an silly segfault that occurred when
78 successfully writing a file on the 2nd try (i.e. after an
79 initial write error). Slowly but surely, on toward 1.0 we
80 travel.
81
Chris Allegretta9d6f3f32001-01-21 02:35:03 +00008201/17/2001 - Nano 0.9.99pre1 is released. This is the first pre-1.0
Chris Allegretta9faa3f12001-01-18 04:37:09 +000083 release of nano, and is also the first release since the
84 code freeze for nano 1.0. Don't expect (or request) any
85 new features between now and nano 1.0, only bugfixes,
86 optimizations and doc/translation updates. For fixes, a
87 nasty segfault when trying to insert one's home directory
88 (~), some checks for the NumLock key making the keypad
89 go awry, window size sanity checks, many autoconf fixes,
90 and support for the KDE konsole keypad layout. Have fun.
91
Chris Allegretta16991442001-01-07 22:06:11 +00009201/07/2001 - Nano 0.9.25 is the "Just one more feature I swear!" release.
93 It includes one new feature that Pico has had forever, a
94 built-in file browser. Since not everyone may want this
95 option, there is a --disable-browser option to the
96 configure script as well. Other changes include slightly
97 different keypad handling, and a bugfix for crashes when
98 tab completion in certain instances. Have fun and Happy
99 New Year!
100
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +000010112/18/2000 - Nano 0.9.24 is released. This version contains the last of
Chris Allegretta66149e72000-12-19 02:51:06 +0000102 the security fixes for writing files, as well as for a
103 nasty segfault when nano is unable to open a file for
104 reading, among other fixes. Nano also now cowardly
105 refuses to open device files, to stop silly things like
106 trying to open /dev/zero. New features include being
107 Able to use Meta-Meta-<key> as Control-<key>, better
108 HURD support, and some new flags have been added for Pico
109 compatibility. Upgrading to this version is highly
110 recommended.
111
Chris Allegretta88167602000-12-09 00:07:06 +000011212/08/2000 - Nano 0.9.23 is the "race conditions bite" release. The
113 main reason for this release is the less-than-optimal
114 fix for the security issue in nano with following symbolic
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000115 links. Hopefully this will fix the problem permanently.
Chris Allegretta88167602000-12-09 00:07:06 +0000116 The --nofollow option also works again for those who
117 are real security nuts. There are also some display and
118 search fixes, and the --disable-spell function was renamed
119 to --disable-speller to be in line with nano and pico's
120 "speller" term.
121
Chris Allegrettaac139dd2000-12-02 21:31:17 +000012212/02/2000 - Nano 0.9.22 is released, with many more changes and
123 additions than imaginable. The most important change is
124 a fix for unsafe handling of symbolic links which could
125 lead to symlink attacks if nano were to exit because
126 of an error or signal. Also there are better checks when
127 saving files.
128 As for new features, username tab completion is
129 now working well, the internal spell checker code has been
130 tweaked, you can now unjustify if you don't like how the
131 justify formatted your text, and there are more
132 options for configure, including --disable-spell and
Chris Allegretta9ee2a0d2000-12-02 21:50:57 +0000133 --disable-justify and --enable-extra (for those who like
134 surprises). All in all, a whole lot of changes in
Chris Allegrettaac139dd2000-12-02 21:31:17 +0000135 a little over a week.
136
Chris Allegretta71366cd2000-11-23 21:04:27 +000013711/23/2000 - Happy Thanksgiving! Nano 0.9.21 is our "last version was
138 a big turkey" release. It fixes several bugs introduced
139 by the previous version, as well as a few long-
140 standing display bugs. All 0.9.20 users are strongly
141 encouraged to upgrade to this release.
142
14311/18/2000 - Nano 0.9.20 is finally out the door. Probably the biggest
Chris Allegretta44b52ca2000-11-18 16:46:14 +0000144 change is the brand new way nano displays previous search
145 and replace strings (they are now editable!) This is a
146 break from Pico's (inconsistent) interface, so if you
147 don't like the new way, "Pico" mode (-p on the command
148 line or Meta-P within nano) still works the "old"
149 way.
150 Other new features include being able to deal with
151 search strings of any length, a new internal spell feature
152 (courtesy of Mr. Rocco Corsi) and tab completion when
153 reading in or writing out files! There's also the usual
154 billion or so bug fixes. Feedback on this release is
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000155 welcome because so much has changed, especially with the
156 previous string display in search and replace. Email ->
157 nano@nano-editor.org <-. If you like something, don't like
158 something, or just want to order a pizza, let us know!
Chris Allegretta44b52ca2000-11-18 16:46:14 +0000159
Chris Allegretta07e97d62000-10-03 01:52:50 +000016010/02/2000 - Nano 0.9.19 is the "Chris is getting married in less than
161 a week and needs a distraction" release. There are only
162 a few actual code changes, mainly portability and compiler
163 warning fixes. Nano now also supports PDCurses, which
164 enables easily-built nano executables for Windows NT
165 and 95/98 for the brave. The official nano site has
166 changed (again) as well, check out www.nano-editor.org for
167 all the latest nano schtuff.
168
Chris Allegretta629edad2000-09-19 00:27:19 +000016909/18/2000 - Nano 0.9.18 is unleashed. It has some new keyboard
170 handling code, cygwin support out of the box, and
171 a more portable handler for the NOHELP toggle. There
172 is also a fix for a somewhat serious bug whereby trying
173 to insert a directory instead of a normal file would
174 destroy the contents of the editor. A must-see. Four
175 stars.
176
Chris Allegretta423cbfd2000-09-04 16:21:29 +000017709/04/2000 - Nano 0.9.17, the Labor Day release, is released after a
178 quiet spell (almost an entire month since last release!)
179 New features include better (not yet perfect) binary
180 display support and toggle support for most of the program
181 flags (M-c, M-i, M-z, M-x, M-p, M-w, M-m, M-k and M-e for
182 -c, -i, -x, -p, -w, -k, and -R).
183
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +000018408/09/2000 - Nano 0.9.16, after some struggling, is released. This release
Chris Allegrettaba96f7a2000-08-09 21:38:28 +0000185 should fix a few of the holes that 0.9.15 dug. The
186 "cutting text on the first line" bug is fixed, as is the
187 "cutting text on the last line" bug. Nice symmetry there
188 huh? Also the --tabsize argument should now work as well
189 as by using -T.
190
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +000019108/03/2000 - Nano 0.9.15 is the "I can't think of a release description"
Chris Allegretta0bf4e142000-08-04 02:42:04 +0000192 release. There are the usual gala of display bugfixes,
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000193 a fix for the the nasty bug in -k mode that could create a
Chris Allegretta0bf4e142000-08-04 02:42:04 +0000194 loop in the file being edited, and some other code
195 cleanup. Also, the -T option should now work regardless
196 of the curses library used. Yay.
197
Chris Allegrettaa1a55c72000-07-28 00:36:03 +000019807/27/2000 - Nano 0.9.14 is officially the "13 is so unlucky it should
199 be skipped as a version number" release. One typo
200 caused unending problems (calling nano with either -t or
201 -k caused both flags to be used). The -k code is also now
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000202 closer in functionality to Pico's -k mode; please
Chris Allegrettaa1a55c72000-07-28 00:36:03 +0000203 note that this code is not finished yet. Working on this
204 code has made me realize that there is not enough
205 abstraction in the code, and I will be working on that
206 for the next release. Until then, have fun with this
207 version.
208
Chris Allegrettaedebbe62000-07-23 16:45:20 +000020907/23/2000 - Nano 0.9.13 has a few new bits and bobs, most notably the
Chris Allegretta231d3d62000-07-22 19:33:19 +0000210 -k option from Pico (cut to end of line). The majority
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000211 of changes in this release are bugfixes, however, including
Chris Allegretta231d3d62000-07-22 19:33:19 +0000212 the usual display fixes and fixes for writing to symbolic
213 links and un-writeable files. Barring any other major
214 changes, this should be the feature set for nano 1.0,
215 whenever it might be released =-)
216
Chris Allegrettae955dae2000-07-07 22:24:59 +000021707/07/2000 - Nano 0.9.12 (The "lucky day" release) is bursting with new
218 features, bug fixes, and yummy fruit flavor. For
219 changes, the alternate replace keystroke ^W^T is now
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000220 ^W^R to be compatible with later versions of Pico.
Chris Allegrettae955dae2000-07-07 22:24:59 +0000221 ^W^T is now goto line, again for Pico compatibility.
222 As for new features, the wonderful/hated magic line
223 code has returned with a vengeance! Also, regular
224 expression searches and replaces have been incorporated
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000225 via the -R flag. And, of course, there are the usual
Chris Allegrettae955dae2000-07-07 22:24:59 +0000226 helping of display and other bug fixes to top it all
227 off.
228
Chris Allegretta4da1fc62000-06-21 03:00:43 +000022906/20/2000 - Nano 0.9.11 presents drastic rewrites of the most buggy
Chris Allegretta37985882000-06-20 00:39:20 +0000230 routines in the program, specifically the wrapping code
231 and almost all of the display routines. There are many
232 improvements and bugfixes to the display subsystem in
233 general, but there may be bugs lurking yet. Also, after
234 many MANY requests, there is now an option to set the
235 displayed tab width (-T, --tabsize). Note that
236 this function just changes the way tabs LOOK in the
237 editor, the tabs you input are still real tabs of normal
238 width (usually 8 characters); nano just makes them look
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000239 smaller or bigger while in the editor. New in the
240 translation department is an Indonesian translation (id).
Chris Allegretta37985882000-06-20 00:39:20 +0000241
Chris Allegretta2b26e0a2000-06-07 04:02:06 +000024206/06/2000 - Nano 0.9.10 is primarily a bugfix for the loss of SIGINT when
243 using "run and terminate" flags (for example, --help).
244 There are also some minor documentation updates. This
245 version of nano is the most stable in quite some time, and
246 is likely to be the most stable for awhile. Users are
247 encouraged to upgrade to this version.
248
Chris Allegrettaa2ea1932000-06-06 05:53:49 +000024905/31/2000 - Nano 0.9.9 introduces much better working i18n support,
250 more portability, and a ton of bugfixes. While
251 nano is not likely anywhere near 1.0 in terms of
252 code quality, it gets a quantum leap closer with this
253 release.
254
25505/18/2000 - Nano 0.9.8 (the 'what broke now?' release) should fix
256 the resize crash people have been experiencing. It also
257 offers a new input method that should allow nano to do
258 things the right way (like ^S, ^Q, custom suspend keys)
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000259 and hopefully won't break with non-US keyboards. There
Chris Allegrettaa2ea1932000-06-06 05:53:49 +0000260 are also the obligatory display fixes and speedups. Have
261 fun with it.
262
26305/14/2000 - Nano 0.9.7 (the Mother's Day release) continues in the long
264 line of display fixes, and also fixes the broken symlink
265 behavior (i.e. symlinks weren't being followed by
266 default). Hopefully all major bugs can be worked out soon
267 and we can have a 1.0 release before the end of the year,
268 but who knows.
269
27005/08/2000 - Nano 0.9.6 cleans up a lot of the display bugs that 0.9.5
271 uncovered. There are improvements (and some remaining
272 segfaults) in the wrapping code, and even more
273 display optimizations. I would still say 0.9.4 or 0.9.2
274 are the most stable versions of nano to date, but this one
275 may not be too bad =-)
276
27705/01/2000 - Nano 0.9.5 attempts to speed up the display of text
278 to be at least somewhat reasonable. Much
279 code profiling has been done to reduce the
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000280 ridiculous number of redundant display updates. This
Chris Allegrettaa2ea1932000-06-06 05:53:49 +0000281 will probably expose a lot of bugs that can then be
282 fixed, so this release is probably not for the faint
283 of heart. For anyone curious, I would call nano 0.9.2
284 the most stable version recently, so use that if you're
285 not particularly concerned with being on the bleeding
286 edge.
287
28804/25/2000 - Nano 0.9.4 fixes some problems in 0.9.3 with the last
289 line code and related segfaults. It also now has
290 much better handling for 8-bit characters. The
291 --enable-tiny code also produces a smaller executable.
292
29304/19/2000 - Nano 0.9.3 is officially the "Micro$oft" release. It
294 underscores the recent problem of bugfixes introducing
295 more bugs than they fix. The most important change
296 to this version of nano is the removal of the "magic
297 line". You will no longer see a blank line at the end of
298 the file. If you want a new line at the end of your file,
299 you'll have to hit enter to get one.
300
301 NOTE: THIS BREAKS COMPATIBILITY WITH PICO. Unfortunately,
302 this feature has been causing many many problems with nano
303 so it is being removed for the time being, and perhaps
304 indefinitely.
305
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000306 Other new stuff includes an --enable-tiny option to make
Chris Allegrettaa2ea1932000-06-06 05:53:49 +0000307 nano ultra small (disabling i18n, detailed help and the
308 marker and mouse code), and --with-slang to use the
309 slang libraries instead of ncurses.
310
31104/15/2000 - Nano 0.9.2 just fixes the serious segfault problem if
312 nano is invoked any way other than using the absolute
313 path. The bug was in the new code for checking whether
314 nano is invoked as pico.
315
31604/14/2000 - 0.9.1 has some more Pico compatibility built-in. The
317 option to switch to/from Search and Search/Replace
318 (^T) is now available, and nano now displays the
319 more Pico-like shortcut list when invoked as 'pico'
320 (i.e. if pico is a symlink to nano). There is an
321 important change to the handling of symbolic links
322 as well. Now, nano does the "correct" thing and
323 automatically writes to the object of the symlink,
324 rather than replace the symlink with the updated file.
325 This behavior is still available with the --nofollow
326 or -l flags.
327 Other new things include a fix for the infamous
328 "recursive replace" bug, and more bugfixes in the wrapping
329 code.
330
33104/07/2000 - Nano 0.9.0 has some updates, new language support and
332 a much better refresh setup (It's still not great, but...)
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000333 There should also be more stability editing long lines,
Chris Allegrettaa2ea1932000-06-06 05:53:49 +0000334 as there was a stupid mistake in the update_line
335 call. Silly me =)
336
33703/22/2000 - Nano 0.8.9 is basically just a bugfix release of 0.8.8
338 to reflect the current stagnant status of the project.
339 Most things work, the rest doesn't doesn't work because
340 (a) I can't fix it or I would have already done so, and
341 (b) the amount of patches I'm receiving right now is quite
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000342 negligible. Fortunately, this release marks the first
Chris Allegrettaa2ea1932000-06-06 05:53:49 +0000343 release since I have acquired ownership of the nano pages
344 on SourceForge. Here's hoping SF will get us some more
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000345 visibility, translators and patches.
Chris Allegrettaa2ea1932000-06-06 05:53:49 +0000346
34703/12/2000 - After a hiatus, I have finally moved (not unpacked though)
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000348 to my new home into Albany. Thus I should now have more
Chris Allegrettaa2ea1932000-06-06 05:53:49 +0000349 time to work on nano. Nano 0.8.8, the "dear god what
350 broke this time?" release, incorporates patches for both
351 i18n and many bugfixes. It is VERY likely something broke
352 this version, and it's likely I didn't even apply the i18n
353 stuff properly, so *it* may not even work.
354
355 I would like to announce that I'm going to need
356 translations soonish, so if you are fluent in other
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000357 languages than English (or even better, if your native
358 language is not English) and you would like to submit a
Chris Allegrettaa2ea1932000-06-06 05:53:49 +0000359 translation file to me, please feel free to do so. If you
360 do, I will list your name and email in the AUTHORS file as
361 the maintainer of the .po file, and from then on it is
362 yours to take care of and keep up to date.
363
36403/01/2000 - Well, to continue my trend of going back on my previous
365 release's comments, nano 0.8.7 is released. The crashing
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000366 behavior was still occurring, and this most recent fix also
Chris Allegrettaa2ea1932000-06-06 05:53:49 +0000367 fixes some other wrapping problems, so here you go.
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000368 There may be another release soon, there may not be, is
Chris Allegrettaa2ea1932000-06-06 05:53:49 +0000369 that vague enough? =)
370
37102/25/2000 - More minor bugfixes in 0.8.6, the bizarre behavior at the end
372 of a page has ceased, thankfully. I'm also moving next
373 weekend, so don't be shocked if you don't see a new
374 version of nano next week =-)
375
37602/11/2000 - Okay, here we go again. Aside from a few minor fixes and
377 some under-the-hood changes, you won't notice much
378 different in this version of nano. I haven't gotten much
379 feedback on the help feature, is it simply amazing or does
380 no one care? Write and let me know! =)
381
38202/08/2000 - Nano 0.8.3 marks the first time in a long time that there has
383 been more than three days since the last release. New
384 features include an initial help mode (YAY!), hopefully
385 much more support for i18n out of the box, and a flag
386 for more Pico compatibility in the shortcut lists
387 displayed. This release also marks the new nano
388 distribution site, http://www.asty.org/nano and email
389 address nano@asty.org for bugs, etc.
390
39102/02/2000 - Okay, I hate to go back on what I said in the last release,
392 but I may be changing jobs very soon. I will release
393 version 0.8.2 as is (no i18n, no help menu (yet). I
394 expect things to settle down by the end of next week, and
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000395 then I can try to start on the i18n support and help menu;
Chris Allegrettaa2ea1932000-06-06 05:53:49 +0000396 look for these new features in version 0.8.5 to 0.9.0.
397
39801/28/2000 - Nano 0.8.1 marks our first official step toward
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000399 internationalization (i18n) and the help system (^G). I
Chris Allegrettaa2ea1932000-06-06 05:53:49 +0000400 will be merging in Jordi's patches for initial i18n in the
401 next version, and will implement the help system with
402 i18n built into it shortly after that. Please don't
403 hesitate to send bug reports, as long as you're sure the
404 fault lies with nano =-).
405
40601/25/2000 - Nano 0.8.0 is officially the 'let's try and be at least a
407 little portable, mmmmkay?' release. There are many
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000408 portability checks and fixes; many thanks to Andy Kahn for
Chris Allegrettaa2ea1932000-06-06 05:53:49 +0000409 his patches. I removed the broken do_spell behavior with
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000410 the 'spell' program; for now, we only try to call 'ispell'
Chris Allegrettaa2ea1932000-06-06 05:53:49 +0000411 until I write a better method to handle the output of the
412 normal 'spell' command.
413
41401/24/2000 - Nano 0.7.9 features many new features. Among them are a
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000415 new autoindent feature (-i, --autoindent), tempfile
Chris Allegrettaa2ea1932000-06-06 05:53:49 +0000416 flag like Pico's -t flag (-t, --tempfile), and preliminary
417 spelling program support. The spelling function tries
418 to run 'spell' and then 'ispell' in that order, but you
419 can specify another spelling program with -s or --speller.
420
42101/17/00 - Nano 0.7.7 is officially the 'way too much stuff changed this
422 release' release. It's the busy time at work for me, so
423 please don't get offended if your patch doesn't get
424 included in the next immediate version of nano. I'm sure
425 all the changes in this release will cause a few bugs, so
426 0.7.8 will primarily be about fixing those bugs.
427
Chris Allegretta88520c92001-05-05 17:45:54 +0000428 Things added this release include resizability (kinda),
Chris Allegrettaa2ea1932000-06-06 05:53:49 +0000429 new -x and -c flags (see nano -h for help), long command
430 line flag support, and the usual array of bugfixes.
431
43201/15/00 - Nano 0.7.6 is officially the 'lightning' release. It now loads
433 large files much faster than previous versions, and is
434 even much faster than Pico or vi in some rather
435 rudimentary tests. Many thanks to Adam Rogoyski for the
436 read_byte patch!
437
43801/09/00 - As of this version (0.7.4), TIP has officially been renamed
439 to nano. The new homepage is at
440 http://faculty.plattsburgh.edu/astyanax/nano. Please
441 update your bookmarks, tell your friends, and all that
442 jazz.
